Nigel Price (Guitar) and Matt Wates (Alto Sax) are both world class jazz musicians based in London
This group combines these rare talents and performs either as a duo, trio (with added double bass) pr a quartet (vocal or keybard options) and has a wide repertoire that encompasses lively acoustic swing standards, cool bossa-novas and latin jazz together with mellow interterpretions of well known songs. The performance is virtuoso but the music is always approachable and listenable for any audience and is the ultimate in polished party for a cocktail jazz a party, wedding or a corporate reception or dinner. Whatever the event they add a touch of pure class.
Nigel's discography is large and his playing can be heard on a multitude of CDs from the last ten years , several under his own name. He has also played live with a host leading jazz names such as Pee Wee Ellis, Alex Garnett, Bobby Wellins, Alec Dankworth and Allan Barnes.
Matt was born in London in 1964 and graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1988. He has appeared with many world famous jazz stars including Humphrey Lyttelton, Helen Shapiro, Bobby Wellins, Duncan Lamont, Ian Shaw, Norma Winstone as well as recording with a galxy of jazz bands and groups NYJO, The Michael Garrick Big Band, Sax Appeal and Jamie Cullum. Matt alos records under his own name and was awarded Rising Star in the 1997 BT British Jazz Awards and the Matt Wates Sextet won the Best Small Group award in 2001.
