Gipsy Jazz are a superb recreation of The Hot Club of France a la Grapelli and Reindhart. Stylish musical entertainment with familiar tunes superbly performed by Andy and Mike who form the nucleus of this Gipsy Jazz Quartet with their musicianship and and wealth of experience.
ANDY WILLIAMS - GUITAR
Andy first picked up the guitar at 13 and by the age of 18 had embarked on a serious musical career. He started working in local jazz bands and joined an established function band playing in London's top hotels following a residency at Trelawne Manor, Cornwall . Andy has performed at many Pizza Express jazz venues, the Soho Jazz Festival and until recently enjoyed a 9 year Sunday residency at Pizza on the Park in London . As well as working with many of Britain's finest jazz musicians, he has performed alongside American Artists such as Tal Farlow, Benny Waters, Warren Vache and has opened for acts such as Barney Kessel and Harry Allen. Andy is also a regular member of his father's quartet (the internationally renowned trombonist Roy Williams).
MIKE O'MARA - VIOLIN
Mike O'Mara's musical credentials are impeccable: classical training in piano and violin and a Masters degree in Performance and Composition from New York University.
His street cred is equally impressive. As a 12 year old he started jamming and then, in his teenage and university years, he poured his energy into hustling for gigs - a determination which eventually saw him play the famous Blue Note Club in Greenwich village. For the next two years he played at many of the Residencies on Broadway.
Currently based in London and Brighton, Mike has recently formed two Quartets: The Gipsy Jazz Acoustic Quartet and the Mike O'Mara Quartet. Both have attracted considerable attention and critical praise.
Mike has played major Festivals Including Cork International jazz festival and played for Ray Charles and has performed live all over Europe with key appearances at the Henley Festival of Music and Arts (for the fifth year running) and the International Cork Jazz Festival.
