Anita Harris is one of the UK's most popular theatre actresses and a best loved entertainer both with the public and in her profession. She is a multi-award winning Singer, Actress and Entertainer. Among her trophies are awards for 'Performer of the Year', 'Concert and Cabaret Performer of the Year' and she has topped the TV Times reader's poll as 'Most popular female Television entertainer'.
Anita trained as an ice dancer but began her singing career with the Cliff Adams Singers. She was still in her teens when invited to cut her first recording with the John Barry Seven. She went on to have major chart hits with her recordings of "Just Loving You" (given to Anita by Tom Springfield, brother of Anita's friend Dusty Springfield), "The Playground", "The Anniversary Waltz" and "Dream a Little Dream of Me" and numerous chart albums.
She has become known as a variety entertainer and actress and appeared in a number of the Carry On films, notably 'Follow That Camel 'and 'Carry On Doctor'. She also appeared on countless television programmes in the seventies and eighties.
Anita has firmly established herself as a star of the both dramatic and musical musical stage appeaing as Miss Hannigan in Annie and Grizabella in Cats. In 2006 she appeared in 'Strangers on a Train' co-starring Alex Ferns, Will Thorp and Colin Baker and m Anita played Gertrude Lawrence in 'G and I'. In 2010 she appeared in the UK tour of 'Stepping Out'
More recently Anita has enjoyed great success in the national tour of "A Murder Has Been Arranged" while she continues to entertain at events as a in theatres and cabaret around the UK and is also in demand as a speaker and presenter.
